Speech is the most basic and important media for human communication. To achieve a clear speech communication, we are studying speech enhancement that adaptively recovers a clean signal from a noisy signal by using the difference of frequency characteristics between signal and noise. We are also studying signal separation for extracting an original source signal from their mixtures by measuring signal characteristics.

With the recent spread of smart mobile devices, we become familiar with digital image processing. We construct mathematical models that simulate human visual abilities, and then develop smart image processing algorithms by using mathematical techniques, i.e., fractal operation, morphological operation, graph theory. We are developing an advanced processing algorithm that recovers lost data from neighboring data to remove many scratches and fill blank areas.
